Oliver Kofler is a photographer who has been passionately dedicated to darkroom work as a self-taught practitioner since 2015. He is particularly fascinated by the slowness and the attention to detail required by the analogue process. For several years now, he has been making regular trips to the mountains, where he experiments with new formats and techniques using a large-format camera.
Oliver Kofler created his photography project A Moment After between 2020, in Sardinia, and 2021, in Andalusia. All the images are in black-and-white, developed in the darkroom, and taken with 35mm and medium-format cameras. The black-and-white images explore themes of slowness, reflection and suspension: the focus is on light, nature and the landscape, whilst the human presence remains in the background. The images are arranged in sequences that evoke cinema and invite the viewer to imagine what happens between one image and the next.
