Oliver Kofler is a photographer, born in 1991 in Bolzano, who discovered his passion for photography in 2015. A self-taught artist, he devoted himself intensively to darkroom work. He is particularly fascinated by the slowness and mindfulness of the analogue process – from loading the film and taking each photograph with intention to the development and final print. For the past five years, he has regularly ventured into the mountains, where he captures special moments with his large-format camera, explores new formats, and continues to refine his methods. His goal is to explore and fully harness the depth of analogue photography.

The photographic project A Moment After was created in Sardinia in 2020 and in Andalusia in 2021. All images are black-and-white photographs developed in the darkroom and taken with 35 mm and medium-format cameras. The works revolve around themes of slowness, reflection, and suspension: light, nature, and landscape take centre stage, while human figures are almost entirely absent. Each image stands on its own, while the project as a whole forms a poetic narrative about nature. The photographs are arranged in sequences that show the moments immediately before and after a situation — a visual exploration of time and transformation, comparable to the representation of a fourth dimension. These short sequences evoke cinematic associations and encourage viewers to mentally complete the continuation of the depicted moments.
