About

In June 2026, Bruneck will become a showcase for analog photography: with the ANALOGUE Photo.Festival, a biennial dedicated entirely to analog photography is being launched for the first time—both within the town itself and at selected satellite locations throughout South Tyrol. Under the theme “Beyond the Instant,” the two-week festival brings together 15 local and international artists who place analog photography at the center of their work. Exhibitions, workshops, photowalks, and other site-specific events come together to form a multifaceted program that moves between artistic analog practice, reflection, and exchange.

  • Atelier Kromar was founded in 1976 in Innichen / San Candido in the Italian Dolomites. Behind the name Kromar are the artist Claudio Covi and creative director Maria Schmieder Covi.

The studio originally emerged in an old house that no longer exists today. This vanished house stands for a world that has radically changed since 1976. Throughout these transformations, the atelier has maintained its focus on film, black-and-white photography, portraiture, analogue development, and manual printing. All of this work continues to take place in the back room and workshop spaces of the studio.

For more than 45 years, Foto Kromar has pursued this practice with remarkable continuity and passion, driven by the belief that a true photographer does not merely produce images, but interprets the world and the people around them.

On June 11 at 4 pm, Maria Schmieder Covi and Claudio Covi will guide visitors through their atelier.
